Quality Certification

Diskusija has been certified according to the international translation services standard ISO 17100:2015, and the quality management standard ISO 9001:2015

For our company quality and customer satisfaction have always been, are, and will remain, our top priority. We have been consistently seeking to ensure that our operational processes are clearly defined and transparent, and build genuine partnership relations with our customers and suppliers to ensure best results. Therefore, the standardisation of our company according to international standards was a natural process, yet another step ahead that we decided to make in 2015, shortly after the publication of two new international standards specifically suitable for the nature and the concept of our business – the international translation services standard ISO 17100:2015, and a new version of the international quality management standard ISO 9001:2015.

We are proud to be the first translation agency in Lithuania to have implemented the two standards.

ISO 17100:2015

The international standard ISO 17100:2015 Translation services – Requirements for translation services was published in May 2015, following extensive preparatory work that involved a range of organisations, entities and experts from the language industry. The standard replaced the European standard EN 15038:2006, and filled in the gap in the global standardisation of translation services. The standard provides procedural and quality requirements for translation services so that the services meet customer and market needs. The standard has become for customers a highly required reference of quality of translation services.

Like its predecessor EN 15038, ISO 17100 defines:

  • requirements for the professional competence and qualification of translators and revisers
  • the translation process
  • requirements for quality assurance and project management
  • the contractual framework between the customer and the translation services provider

However, the new standard includes new or defines the existing requirements in greater detail.

The innovations introduced by ISO 17100 include:

  • the definition of the required competences and expertise of the project managers
  • the requirement to maintain and update the competences of the translators, revisers, project managers and other professionals and to keep the appropriate records
  • enhanced requirements for technical and technological resources, including the requirement to ensure the availability and use of the translation technology, translation management, and terminology management tools and systems
  • a more detailed description of the project management process and its stages
  • a definition of the translation workflow
  • post-production processes: handling client feedback, project archiving

ISO 9001:2015

A new version of ISO 9001 standard was published in October 2015. The world’s most popular International Standard for quality management ISO 9001, has been totally revised to address the change in the business world and to ensure that it continues to serve the business community and maintain its relevance in today’s market place. However, one thing remained unchanged – to be successful, businesses must adapt to the growing and changing needs of the customer. The original ISO 9001 standard was conceived with the customer in mind, which remains a priority in the new version of ISO 9001:2015.

Among the most important changes of this standard are:

  • the enhanced role of the leadership
  • the necessity to clearly understand the context of organization and to base a company’s unique Quality Management System on this insight
  • risk-based thinking

and most importantly

  • it moves away from prescriptive paperwork

Benefit for the customer

The focus of Diskusija, in the same way as the international standards according to which we are certified, is the customer. We believe that the implemented standards strengthen our readiness to provide to the clients services of highest quality meeting their needs, which for customers provides clarity about our working processes, their transparency and sustainability. The standards, however, do not prevent us from being flexible and prepared to meet the requirements of the customer, and adapt to market changes.

The certificates can be found here: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17100:2015.

Diskusija is certified in accordance with the international standard for translation services 17100:2015 and international standard for Quality Management Systems ISO 9001:2015
