Medical translators
All our translators have to pass a thorough selection procedure to ensure that your projects are translated only by suitable, highly professional experts. Usually, medical texts are translated by translators with a medical or similar background (doctors or other experts in pharmacy, biochemistry, genetics or medical equipment) or linguists with extensive experience in corresponding areas who are true professionals in their field with an excellent knowledge of medicine and linguistics. All our translators translate into their native languages.
We have an extensive database of tested translators. Therefore, we can quickly form a team of translators for larger projects. All translators know how to use CAT tools, which allows us to ensure consistent terminology is used even when translating large-scale projects.
Project workflow
The workflow of a medical translation project is a multi-step process starting with analysis of the source material, appropriate resource selection and ending with the final quality control, layout, project assessment and translation memory update.
The workflow of a medical translation project could be briefly characterised by three main and mandatory steps: translation, editing, and proofreading.
Nevertheless, since the quality of medical translations is related to extremely high requirements as the effect of errors or inaccuracies can have very serious consequences, it is not unusual for clients to ask for a Subject Matter Expert Review or back translation in addition to the above three translation project workflow steps.
Back translation
Back translation is the translation of a translated text back into the source language. Any deficiencies and inadequacies of the primary translation are discovered by comparing the source text and the back translation.
We provide back translation of our client’s documents translated by other vendors or by the clients themselves. If required, we can provide a back translation of our own translations. In this case we guarantee that the translation is done by a different team of linguists and the back translation team will not have access to the source document.
